FAQs

How do I start a yoga practice?

First thing's first.

Once you’ve figured out why you want to get into yoga (whether it’s to increase flexibility, learn meditation, get relaxed, just to try it, gain strength, etc.) take time out to do some research for yourself.

Grab a few books, look online, take some classes or get a private, certified instructor to help guide you through the necessary steps to a nice, safe practice.

Do I have to lose weight in order to practice?

Your body size does not matter! It’s a personal practice and it’s very important to listen to your body. Whatever personal weight goals you have is up to you. There is no rush.  Take your time and enjoy!

How long will it take for me to get flexible?

It depends on you and your body. As far as results are concerned, you MUST dedicate yourself and stay consistent in order to see progress. Find a schedule that works best for you and stick to it.

Do I have to go to a yoga studio?

At home practices are fine but physically going to a yoga studio from time to time is very important. There, you’ll learn how to safely get in and out of poses, proper alignment, breathwork, meditation, etc.

Is it only one form of yoga?

No, there are different styles of yoga. There’s power yoga, hatha yoga, yin yoga, zen yoga, meditation, restorative yoga and more! Make it your business to explore different studios and styles to find out which one is best for you.

Who can practice yoga?

The great thing about yoga is that you do not have to be a yogi to reap the benefits! Whether you are young, old, overweight or thin, yoga can help anybody calm the mind and strengthen the body. Most people who are new to the practice immediately get intimidated by the fancy poses and experienced yogis but the beauty of it all is that it is truly your own personal practice. No one else matters! Yoga is for everyBODY.
